Little entrepreneurs (in a BIG fair)

  • GREEN MICRO:BIT PROJECT - Sixth Mobility

Small business owners in Slavonski Brod

In Erasmus' Green Micro:bit project, which host was our school, the sixth mobility has been accomplished. From 20th until the 22nd November we introduced our project partners (teachers and students) from elementary school "Vižmarje Brod" from Ljubljana and elementary school "Gračani" from Zagreb. The main activity of this mobility was participation in a small entrepreneurship fair.

On the first day of the mobility, the project participants presented the project activities they have been doing since the last mobility in Zagreb - completion of the plant walls, the construction of the windmill, and souvenirs for the entrepreneurship fair. Our eighth-grade students took guests on a tour of our school and school garden, and then participated in a Christmas decoration workshop which was led by classroom teachers Josipa Matić and Senka Jelić with their students from second A and B class. This was followed by a formal reception of project participants at the City Hall, where we were warmly welcomed by vice mayor Tea Tomas who presented to our guests the most important features and sights of the city of Slavonski Brod. Afterwards, teachers and students visited the city’s Fortress, the Tamburitza Museum, and the Ružić Gallery.

The second day featured a number of activities: a project logo making workshop, led by Arts teacher Karolina Čačić, e-book workshop led by teacher Anita Boroz, assembling models of solar windmills, and the latest preparations for presentation and sale of the souvenirs at the Catherine Fair. In the afternoon, the students had the opportunity to be a part of the long-standing tradition of Slavonski Brod and discover new challenges of entrepreneurship, as well as to develop the entrepreneurial spirit.

The students spent the last day of their mobility on a trip to Papuk Nature Park, where they walked an educational trail inside Jankovac Park Forest and learned more about geomorphological features and the peculiarities of Papuk. During the mobility, there was enough time for socializing, and embracing new minted friendships and sharing experiences, which was one of the goals of this project. The students expressed their satisfaction in taking part in the project, international cooperation, everything they have learned and the new skills they have adopted.

Until the next and the final mobility, project participants will complete all activities of the project and formally present them in Zagreb in May.
