WORKSHOPS FOR PUPILS: ERASMUS +, THE GREEN MICRO:BIT
21st and 28th February 2019 two workshops for pupils were held as a part of Erasmus + project The Green Micro:bit. The purpose of the workshops was to disseminate project aims and activities among pupils. The first workshop about micro:bits, programming and e-books was held 21st February. The workshop was conducted by teachers Jelena Andrić and Ivana Zelić and the project coordinator Tanja Đurić. Pupils successfully programmed micro:bits for watering plants and they developed ideas for the project logo, as well as a page for the e-book in Canva.
At the workshop, the whole project was introduced and explained to pupils, as well as its aims, activities and results. Pupils were invited to write a motivational letter to participate in the pupil exchange in Ljubljana in April, where next project activities will take place in cooperation with Vižmarje Brod Primary School and Đuro Pilar Primary School.
The second workshop was held 28th February and the topic was the green wall. Pupils aged 11 to 14 particpated in planting the plants in wooden pallets, which will be installed on the wall in the main school hall as the green wall. Pupils learned which plants are suitable for the green wall and what it takes to keep them healthy. The green wall is one of the project results and one of the aims is to promote ecological awareness among pupils.
The green wall will be watered by micro:bits and this way the technology will make watering much easier because micro:bits will determine when the plant needs water and water it. The workshop was held by teachers Kristina Gajski and Dražena Raguž Šimurina. In the workshop also participated pupils and teachers from the project team: Marija Legac, Ivana Zelić, Jelena Andrić, the headteacher Dalibor Dedić and the project coordinator Tanja Đurić.
Thanks to the school janitor too for technical preparation for the green wall and putting it up on the wall.
The next step is the selection of pupils for the pupil exchange in Ljubljana, Vižmarje Brod Primary School, in April this year. Four pupils will go to Ljubljana, accompanied by two teachers and four pupils will go to Slavonski Brod in November this year, also pupil exchange. We wish them the best of luck!
