66 Years of Europe in School
The European Competition is one of the oldest school competitions in Europe and has accompanied European integration from the outset. For 66 years, pupils of all ages and school types have been creatively dealing with current European topics. The pupils' competition was established in France in 1953 as a project of the European Youth Campaign, where it initially began as an essay competition for older pupils on cultural aspects of European integration.
When EU funding ceased, many countries were forced to end their participation in the school competition. But eTwinning offers new opportunities: In 2014 the National Support Service for eTwinning in Germany started a cooperation with the European Movement, which is the institution which hosts the competition in Germany. Since then it is possible for eTwinning projects to take part in the competition.
Projects are awarded with vouchers worth from 200 € - 800 € and goodies for the students .
Conditions of participation
Project groups from up to five schools are eligible to participate. At least one German school must be involved.
The competition entries will be evaluated according to the criteria of the eTwinning quality label:
- Pedagogical innovation,
- Communication and exchange between the partner institutions,

Special attention is paid to results related to the competition task.
The competition entry must be submitted by a German school. The closing date for entries is 01 March 2020. The application form will be available at the beginning of 2020 on this website.
