Project description

  • The aim of this project is to pay tribute to black people who have played a part in the evolution of their condition and in the evolution of society.First, we'll work on Black People's History. Each class will create a quizz for the other one with Learning app or Quizzlet. The students will also work on the representation of black people through centuries .They will choose a text , a painting or a movie showing how black people were differently represented through times. Then the classes will work on the twentieth century, segregation and the Civil rights Movement with videos and embeded questions for the other students to answer. We'll post the students’ videos on the project journal and have the other students answer the questions in a sort of « contest » .To finish with, each student will choose a black person he / she would like to pay tribute to and prepare a text , a poem or a song. My students will be absent in January. In February we'll record a video of this celebration

    AIMS

    The first aim of this project is to develop our students' communication skills in English ( oral and written expression but also oral and written understanding) and improve their writing skills but also their pronounciation and get more self-confidence. The aim is also to make them aware that they can communicate with many european countries thanks to the English language. As regards the topic chosen the aim is to have them get more knowledge about the evolution of the condition of black people through centuries and show them how much they can learn from the others and bring to others as well. Also opening up to other cultures and strengthening our students 'sense of belonging to the same community and in this way developping their european citizenship is an other objective. To finish with, our students, thanks to this project will get used to teamwork, new working methods and new communication tools .

    WORK PROCESS

    I 've been working on the different steps of the project with Nicoletta Long since June, We mainly communicate by mail.The work on black people's history will begin in September and finish in February. We'll begin in September with the creation of the quizz about black people's history. This game will take place end of September. Our students will work on the representation of black people through times in October by groups of 3 to 5 students. They'll post their productions on the same padlet.A virtual meeting between the students will be organised to exchange about this work and questions prepared before in class. The students will work on the twentieth century in November by pairs.They'll create a video with embeded questions for the other class with Ed Puzzle.A contest will take place end of November. In december each student will choose a black person they would like to pay tribute to and prepare a poem, text or song for Black History Month celebrated in February.

    EXPECTED RESULTS

    In February Black History Month will be celebrated in our schools . Each student involved in the project will pay a tribute to a black person who has played an important part in the evolution of black people's condition and in the evolution of society through a text, a poem or a song. On School's Open Day one could show videos of students reading aloud poems or singing.
    A public twinspace could be done.
    We also expect from our students a better knowledge of Black people's History, more fluency in English and new methodological skills.
