    eTwinning project plan

     

    A year around Europe

     

    The project is designed to be flexible, for participants to fit into their own curriculum.

    If you have any further ideas, we can make changes as we go along :)

    Overview of project:

    Pupils will share information about their activities through the year.  They will learn about life in other countries through this collaboration.  This may include festivals, the weather, school activities and local traditions.  They will share written work, songs, games, photos and videos and will take part in a video call.  The children will learn some language of the partners. eSafety will be discussed. The project will facilitate collaborative international peer learning.

    Aims:

    For the children to find out about life in other countries in Europe through the year;

    to practise their foreign language skills in writing, reading, speaking and listening;

    to break down barriers and avoid stereotypes;

    to develop their creativity;

    to communicate effectively with their peers in other countries;

    to use a number of IT tools and integrate ICT into learning;

    to learn about eSafety;

    to make friends internationally through a shared educational project;

    to find out about other countries in Europe through shared project work;

    to benefit from international collaboration.

    For teachers to develop their skills in using eTwinning and ICT teaching

    For pupils and teachers to reflect on their learning through the project.

     

    Work process:

    1 Project introduced to pupils, pupil administrators/ classes added.

    2 Logo design activities.  With the pupils?  Yes - we will discuss the best way for the children to collaborate in this activity - it’s a nice way to start to introduce the project

    3 Project diary – ongoing through the project: linked from school websites so parents can access.

    4 Autumn term: eSafety. Sharing of information about our schools, autumn, Christmas and winter traditions.  Exchange of Christmas cards.

    5 Spring term: information about New Year, spring and Easter. Safer Internet Day (5 Feb 2019?)

    6 Summer term: information about summer and holidays.  Eid (5 June 2019).

    6a Video call??  Would we like to hold a video call? My pupils would love it.

    7 Various IT tools will be integrated into the project.

    8 Pupils will reflect on their learning in the project share these reflections on the Twinspace.

    9 Teachers will also reflect on the benefits of participating in the project.

     

    Expected results:

    Skills and experience gained:

    Pupils will have a greater knowledge of life in other countries, over the course of a year.

    Pupils will have a real audience for their work.

    Some of the other pupils’ languages may be learned.

    Children and teachers will have experience in using new ICT tools.

    Teachers will share pedagogical ideas and ICT expertise and be part of a European network of teachers using eTwinning.  

    Teachers new to eTwinning will be mentored through this project.

    Pupils will be more globally aware.

    Parts of the Twinspace will be public, and will be linked from schools' websites for parents and other schools to follow the progress of the project.

     

    The following does not form part of the eTwinning project application, but is a suggested Project Timeline.  Please add any holiday dates for your school at the end of this document.

    We will need to agree a date for the conference call.

    We would also need a planning video call to check the equipment etc

    Each school could draw a flag inside a part of a circle, or a hand (creating a hands ‘circle)
