  • Christmas Sweet Christmas cake is the "Buccellato" .

    The recipe involves the use of 500 gr. of flour, 4 eggs, 200 grams of lard, 200 grams of sugar, 200 grams of milk, 2 grams of ammonia, lemon peel, 300 grams of preserves, 200 grams of dried figs, 100 grams of raisins, 50 grams of hazelnuts, almonds 50 grams, 200 grams of walnuts, 100 grams of candied orange peel, 1 clove, honey and candied fruit mixed.

    Another very well-known Christmas cake for which we have some variations in the recipe is the "Cobaita". The ingredients that are needed are a pound of sesame seeds, 600 grams of honey, 300 grams of sugar and 250 grams of toasted almonds well.

    The fritters, in dialect called "Sfinci" , have their place of honor in the kitchen Christmas Sicilian. The recipe calls for the use of 500 grams of flour, 3 eggs, 25 grams of yeast, lemon peel, sugar or honey and oil for frying.

    The "cuddureddi" are typical Christmas cakes too. They have the particular ring shape, their envelope is created by mixing flour, water and sugar and their filling is made from a dough consisting of cooked wine, spices, almond, cinnamon and candied local oranges.
