Peace heroes

  • Introduction:

One of the main aims of this project is to allow the students to explore and investigate great and small world and local peace heroes, and on what they did, whether willingly or by chance, to reach their most precious dreams (freedom, equality, education, human rights, friendship, ...). This can inspire young people today to act as heroes in their own lives.

We strongly believe that young people today need role models in their lives, and cooperating in this project will build the bridge between local and international peace heroes, and encourage students to make a difference in their local communities.

What follows are presentations of peace heroes from the partner countries:

    BULGARIA

Bulgarian Peace Hero:  Dimitar Peshev - the savior of the 50 000 Bulgarian Jews during World War II, when officially Bulgaria was an ally of Nazi Germany.

    NORWAY

Comparing Jan Baalsrud and Nelson Mandela

    SPAIN

    GERMANY

Mrs Dorothee Fischer - a local peace hero from Saxony-Anhalt: she hosted a Syrian family and helps immigrants.

Malala Yousafzai was also chosen by one of our students as her personal peace hero who invastigate education for everybody:

    ITALY

    Italy Casaroli

Peppino Impastato was chosen by the students of IC Casaroli as our Peace hero, because he used irony and the media to fight against the Mafia. Unfortunately he was killed for that, but his memory lives with us, as well as his example.
