Mandalas and happiness

  • The European Day of Languages it is a good opportunity to work with children different topics related to the languages around Europe. This time we focuses our attention on the word "happiness" and the name of three countries: Italy, Spain and United Kingdom. Children had fun creating their own mandalas about what makes them happy. We were talking about easy experiences in real life that makes them feel good. We don't need too much, such as to feel good in our families, in our neighborhood and at school. Their main ideas were to walk in nature, to eat a good dish that mum or dad prepares, to play with their friends in the park, to receive a kiss or a hug from people they really love or to see the starts one summer night. All these things and more can be seen in their final mandalas, full of creativity and mindfulness.

Another activities we did for this special day were to focus our attention in the flags of the different countries, reading and writing for little kids. You can see the templates the children worked on in the files below.

1st template: Flags, countries and happiness

2nd template: Monuments, flags, words and artists

Children have used different art techniques to draw and paint for this task, so the different involved classes could create their own mandalas and express themselves.
