Partner Meetings

  • Whenever we have partner meetings we'll try to share some sort of a minute that briefly goes into what was talked about and agreed upon by us.

    Final Meeting - June 11

    Time to wrap this up! :)

    On June 11 we had our final meeting. We all shared a sense of a job well done. This project allowed us to learn so much about each other's culture. We even had some good laughs remembering what we could now share with others about our partners. We day dreamt a bit about going to visit one another. If only we could! :)

    Laughs aside we were also aware that we didn't make the best use of our Twinspace chatroom. The truth is we all chose to go about that through Facebook and skype. That's something we need to work on.

    Our final evaluation of the project was very positive both for the teachers and for our students. The students shared their view on a common padlet and we, teachers, filled out an evaluation form. We took this opportunity to talk about what we each had written on it.

    We also talked about our dissemination plans and apart from groups of students presenting the project to their colleagues and other teachers we will share the students' products on social media and our school's webpage.

    Working with this team was a great learning experience. So much so that we already started making plans for our next project. Adventure, here we come! :D

    3rd Meeting - April 22

    April 22, was our third meeting. As always we used Skype and google docs to get things done. It was time to reflect on what was accomplished so far and plan our final activity.

    Here's the gist:

    The Adventures of CultureUs activity.
    The idea is divide our students into different groups and have each group create a chapter. So we'll end up having different versions of each chapter. The easiest way to go about is for each partner to write a chapter and pass it along to the next one.
     - we can each work on our own chapter for no longer than a week before sending it to someone else.
    - Madeira will go first and then they will send @Strabbioli Simona the 1st chapter by May 6 whose students should work on it and then send it to @Luísa Lima by May 13.
    - @Anna Tobiacelli's students are younger so they will work on getting the various chapters created
    into drawings.
    - @Sophie Lambea will be away on holidays for the next 2 weeks so she´ll get the final chapter.

    We will create a google document for each version of the story. Every student will have editing capability and everyone will be able to check the stories as each group adds their contribution.

    Each group chooses a version of the Story and based on what the character does on the 1st chapter they decide what happens to Cultureus on chapter 2 and so on.

    When all the stories are finished we will create the ebook.

    2nd Meeting - January 12

    January 12, about 7:00 in the evening was our second meeting. We took the opportunity to talk a bit about our Christmas holidays and catch up on our plans for our project.

    Here's what was decided:

    The Sweet on you activity

    - we created a schedule for each partner to send their parcels

    - our students are creating video tutorials to bake our traditional pastry but we thought that it might be interesting if we also shared one or two recipes among ourselves so the kids could try to cook/bake it and then just share the results.

    The Traditions activity

    - the idea is to ask our kids to pick a tradition (clothing, food, dance, etc) of one of the partners, create a quick presentation on it (or even just talk about or create drawings) and then share it with the others so the partner in question can comment on it either by saying it's correct or by adding more information.

    1st Meeting - September 17

    Sunday, the 17th September was our 1st all partner meeting. We used Doodle to easily set up our meeting times. So 10am in Portugal and 11pm in France, Italy and Poland we all sat in front of our computers and got things going.

    After the expected smiles and hellos we got to work. We used a gogle doc to organize the meeting topics so it was easy for all of us to follow and take notes on what we were expected to do.

    Here's the gist of what was decided:

    - The general plan was approved and the first 4 activities were set up;

    - We chose our logo (you can check the different possibilities here);

    - We sorted the pages we need to create for our Twinspace;

    - We decided to create a google doc that will helps us set up the 1st skype calls between our students scheduled for the 1st two weeks of October.

    - We talked about our first extra activity - a quiz on kahoot about our countries/cities/schools - and assigned individual tasks to all partners.

    - We set a common Pearltree account that any partner can access and add to, making it easier to share bookmarks between us and our students;

    The meeting lasted about an hour and after making sure everyone knew what they were supposed to do we said our goodbyes with a smile and a sense of a job well done. :)
