One evening, having a walk with my mom in Penteli , in Athens, we passed from the palace of the Duchess of Placentia. My mom then told me that this palace is considered to be haunted. There, the Duchess of Placentia lived, who had a beloved daughter, Elizabeth. However, Elisa died of tuberculosis when she was very young. The Duchess has never been able to overcome her daughter's death, so she dug the body of Elise and put it in the basement of the palace in a glass coffin. In 1847 a fire broke out and the lifeless body of Elizabeth was burned. Since then the Duchess was not at all well and didn’t want to talk to anyone. She died in 1854 and the legend says that her own spirit as well as her daughter's spirit still live in the palace.

      Hello!

My name is Nikiforos and I will talk to you about the ghost of my city, Patras.

    • Patrinella was, according to the folk tradition, a ghost of the city of Patras. It consists of the sections of two statues embedded in a cavity of Patras Castle. Previously it was visible from all over the city, and in folk tradition it was often taking the form of a woman who protected the city. The statue is located still today on the southern wall of the castle but it's no longer visible due to municipal buildings built in front of it.

Patrinela consists of the truncated statue of a Roman man and the head of another bearded statue considered to be the founder of the city of Patras, named "Patreas". Probably the head comes from a statue depicting Jupiter or another god or hero of antiquity.According to popular tradition, Patrinella lived in the southeast tower of the castle and used to walk every night in the streets of the city at midnight. According to another tradition, she was appearing in the city, when something bad was going to happen. At that time, many residents were hearding her cry. She was considered to be the patron of the city. She was defending the city from cholera and plague. Sometimes she was going out in the streets, dragging chains in order to mourn a significant person of Patras who had died.

When she was passing beside someone, he was feeling a rustling that terrified him. Patronela was only coming out when the sky didn't have stars and she was often crying and saying "don't grab me".

There's a building near the port of Nafpaktos, that is connected with many stories about fantoms and spirits of dead people. At the beginning of the 20th century this building was inhabited as a home. During the Second World War this house was occupied and converted by the German conquerors to an army headquarters. It is said that many Greek patriots were tortured and killed in it. This house was not inhabited again and for many years remained closed. The old residents of Nafpaktos say they often heard from the inside of the house shrieking voices and people crying. A few years ago this building was transformed into a cultural center. It is used as a gallery for painting and photography exhibitions. It is also used by the city's Philharmonic Orchestra and the mixed chorus for rehearsals. No one is afraid of this building anymore!

Near Kalavrita, there is a small village called Lagovouni. A few houses are inhabited there today. A house uninhabited, almost ruinous, is near the church. Villagers say this is haunted. Every night, after 12.00 at midnight, residents see a light, like a candle lit, move through the ruins. Sometimes sounds like sighs of pain are heard from inside. The inhabitants of the village say that the owner of the house was murdered in it during the civil war period. Since then, they believe his ghost comes out every night with a candle in hand and is looking for his murderers. My grandmother told me this story. She had also seen the light once when she was young and was hosted at her aunt's house in this village.

At Lagonisi, in my neighborhood there’s a deserted house, always closed. My grandmother says it’s haunted. My grandfather, Notis, listens to her and laughs because he doesn’t believe in ghosts.
Last summer, Nicolas and John, my friends, had come to visit me at my house. As we were playing, Nicolas, who is more daring and risky, had the idea of exploring the deserted house. We, the others, agreeded.
We crossed the grassy courtyard, we climbed the broken marble staircase, arrived to the balcony and stood in front of a wooden dilapidated door. The door opened without difficulty with a creepy grit.
We came in. Suddenly the wooden floor fell with a loud noise and we "landed" in the basement on an old mattress. We were soiled by dust and covered by the thick tissue of a spider.
We looked at each other. We were scared. There was not much light. We saw some old chairs around us and a wooden chest. We ran to the next room looking for a way to go up again. We were looking for a ladder but the only thing we found were some big barrels.
We heard a noise between the barrels and we saw two eyes shining. We were scared even more! I remembered my grandmother's words. She probably was right when she was talking about ghosts. We returned to the first room and sat in a corner. A small queue appeared beside the wooden chest, and two glossy eyes in the dark.
      - Dad, help !
Suddenly we heard my grandpa’s voice.
      - Panagioti, where are you? We are looking for you! I'm coming to help you! I hope you didn't believe that you saw ghosts! In this house, only kittens are circulating.
      ........
      Or maybe not?

The old hospital in my city, Patras, has been closed for many years. One day, along with my friends, we decided to explore it. I put a cross in my pocket just for the case that I would come into contact with something metaphysical. We decided to go to the hospital at night!
The first thing I felt was a awful smell. We were getting into a room when we heard a whisper. We stoped. We were frozen from our fear! This voice was saying our names! We ran quickly to the exit, but when we got there we found it locked! We then heard the same voice. This time the voice was not whispering, but she was screaming and saying, "John, Jordan and Chris, you will die!". Chris, who was the youngest of the group, began to cry. What we saw was really scary!
A woman with torn clothes (like those wearing in hospitals) and dark hair was coming to us. Her face was white, like the faces of dead people. At that moment I remembered the cross I had taken with me. I pulled it out of my pocket and I threw it on the woman. She started screaming and the door behind us opened. We went out as fast as we could and ran away from the hospital.
The next day we passed outside it and we saw my cross hanging out of a window. The worst thing was that the cross was hanging from a black hair curl ...

    • On a sunny day, my mom, my sister and I, we went to a wedding. Returning from there, we lost our way and our car was found in front of an abandoned building. We phoned to our dad and he immediately took his car to come and find us. Meanwhile, we entered the house. A scream was heard. Suddenly a storm broke out with thunder and lightning. We feared too much. At the same time, our dad, who was on the way, realized that the car's wheel had been pierced! He phoned us to tell us that he would be late because he would have to ask for help from the road assistance center. Meanwhile, we decided to call the fire brigade for help. Unfortunately, all firefighters were busy in another area. We felt desperate! A little while later the firefighters appeared and helped us find the way to our home. I will never forget this day!

    • There was once a haunted house in my neighborhood. My friends and I were very curious to see how it is inside. One day we decided to go in. We were very happy. We were feeling like explorers. When we got in, we heard the door of a room opening with a creepy noise. At the same time, the windows of the house began to open and close. We ran to the living room and there we saw an old man. At first we scared so much that we screamed loudly. The old man told us to get in. We approached him reluctantly. The man started talking to us and after a while we realized that we shouldn't have been afraid of him because he was good-hearted. From that day until today, every afternoon we go to his home.

    • In a village near Nafpaktos there is a tower-like house that is said to be haunted. In the old days a wealthy man with his wife and daughter Isabella lived there. Isabella grew with much love from her parents. When she was 17, she became seriously ill. Her father called many doctors, but the girl eventually died. At that time, her parents closed the doors and windows of the house and remained locked up in it, feeling unhappy. They both died in this house which since then is considered to be haunted.

    • During a frozen night in December, we decided with my cousins to explore the mysterious house, as we were saying. We went inside. The door closed behind us and it became total darkness. Although it was full moon, there was no light at home. The wooden floor creaked loudly and we looked at each other frightened. Somehow, a shadow appeared behind us. We screamed. A doll appeared beside us. She was ugly and red-eyed. She was walking in front of us. She was talking incessantly, telling us how she had died. We ran away. The other day, a river of blood flowed in the street outside the house. Many deadheads and the doll were floating on its surface. "Welcome to the hell," said the doll.

    • An abandoned house
It all began in 1986 when a family built this house next to the Plaza hotel in Nafpaktos. Every summer these people were coming from England to Nafpaktos for holidays. This stopped when the family disappeared and did not come back for 15 years! Some say that these people died and others say they just disappeared. The house began to ruin over time.
This summer, a friend who was old classmate named Aris, asked me to enter the garden of the house with a group of 15 people in the evening. I asked him to take my cousins with me. In the evening we went to meet them. The whole company was there. We climbed on the railings, jumped into the garden, and approached the door of the house a little frightened. We finally left. A person working at the Plaza hotel asked us what we were doing there, and we ran away quickly.

    • THE HAUNTED SCHOOL

In our school we fond a water well. This haunted school has a legend. This legend speaks of a girl. This girl goes at the yard an other person pull

a pen at the at the water well. An the girl goes to take the the pen, an this girl it fell at the water well, and never more we went to see te girl.

We have a haunted school in our town too. People say they hear voices from inside the evenings.
