In Lithuania many people before Christmas try to share all good things and deeds with others and we as our project group started our activities as well.
1. CHRISTMAS OF BOOKS- donate a book to the library
This year Christmas of Books has responded to the initiative “For a Safe Lithuania” and its invitation to reduce social exclusion. The highlight is placed on books that change life.
The campaign encourages to communicate and to share books with those who need them the most. Books can live even in the most deprived homes, spreading the inspiration of change among family members of all ages.
The campaign was launched as a public action to donate new popular books to public and school libraries and to make them available for all book lovers. In the last five years, 172 thousand books were donated to the libraries of Lithuania.
The annual Christmas of Books campaign – in its sixth year now – has evolved into a nationwide movement bringing together lovers of books and engaging thousands of public and private libraries across Lithuania.
Christmas of Books is proud to have many socially committed friends – librarians in small and large towns across Lithuania. The events they host are open to all, those in difficulty and especially children.
