The traveller is active, because he plans everything by himself, he searches and finds something or somebody, he makes an adventure from his experience

The tourist is passive- he always goes where he is told to go, sees what he is told to see.

Two weeks ago I was in skiing trip to Austria. I had to be VERY active then, because I was skiing all days, meeting friends and making some plans together with them..

I agree, because tourists only go to other place to try and relax after a long period of working, or to just try and see all the monuments and sights from a different location. But travelers aren't interested in that, they thrive on indulging themselves in different cultures, different way of lives, they aren't looking for pictures to put in a photo album, what they are looking for is memories, inspiration and most of all, themselves. Travelling should never be a chore or just a fun way to spend time, and as many travelers agree, traveling is a part of their lives that they enjoy repeating over and over, to them, it's the meaning of life itself.

Personally, I don't have any experience in traveling.

Travelling means discovering; that’s what the traveler actually does when he sets off on a journey…he visits what he wants, new things and shades of a specific place and then reflects upon his adventure.  He is spontaneous and dynamic while the ‘tourist’ visits places  just to do something different, to fill his grey and tedious life.  A tourist usually has a guide but the traveler organizes his trip by himself.
