MODULE 3 : Does this song sound familiar ?

  •   Aim: The aim of this module is to raise students' awareness of the existence of Griko, a  minority language spoken in some villages in Southern Italy.

           PROCESS:

    • Both Greek  and Italinan students  listen to the traditional  songs  below in Griko. Each school splits into two groups and each group listens to one of the songs. While they are listening to the songs students brainstorm and write down ideas and key words that they recognize or that come to their mind. Each group of students creates a word cloud with these words by using wordle.net.
    • Ss do some research into the origin of the Griko dialect and its evolution.( Websites will be suggested by teachers)
    • All students collaborate to create an interactive poster entitled " The origin and the evolution of Griko" by using  genially.com (They first upload the information found on a padlet wall)
    • Ss prepare a glossary with the most common expressions  in Griko used in every day life and publish it  on the padlet wall.
    • Ss use the Forum to interact with their partners in Griko.
