INTRODUCTION: Valladolid-England First steps into Citizienship: ‘My world, your World, Our World’

  • St Agustin said ‘Do you want to rise? Begin descending’ so if we want committed adults and citizens ‘to rise’ in our society … Why don’t we start from the foundations helping young children gain a sense of citizenship?

But what does the word ‘citizenship’ mean to them? How can this ‘abstract’ concept make sense in “their little world’ when even some of them can’t even pronounce the word properly?  Is it something ‘boring’ to teach or can we also explain it though ludic engagement and digital creativity? Let’s create our own idea of citizenship and discover what the future and our project ‘eTwinning noticias TV’ (Valladolid/Grangetown) can “rise!

From the 21st-23rd September teachers and school leaders from different European countries attended the conference: ‘Citizenship a new ethic for the 21st century’ in order to learn more about the impact of eTwinning on our children towards the achievement of this goal. However, if children are the key why don’t we make them part of this experience since the beginning? Get ready eTwinning noticias TV’ because we are going to start working together as active and committed citizens!

Children learn best from experiences so we are going to start this first steps into  Citizenship’ experimenting simple activities, concepts and ideas about ourselves (`My world’/ Your World’) in order to acquire, little by little the knowledge, skills, tools and competences needed to success and express their own ideas and points of view in relation to more complex issues around the world:  (‘Our World’)
