Times have changed since Romeo and Juliet but today's teenagers are still fragile and impulsive. Loving who you want is a problem in some countries when you're gay. Teens are closer to their parents but digital addictions have created new barriers, with too many teens struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts.
After studying Shakespeare’s play, we will work on its sociological issues : family feuds, men's domination, violence against women, arranged marriages, love, sexuality, suicide. Students will write sociological articles, highlighting their country's perspective. We will then transpose the story into modern times.
