How to do - picturetrain- first lesson

  •

    "Picturetrain- Design“ -  a suggestion

(similiar to the Posters for rainforests ,we´d created with Erik Tuckow/ KLIMAKUNSTSCHULE)

It needs 90 minutes , but it is important to have a break between, so that you can copy the pictures and words of the students.

    Material you need:

    - Books with pictures of animals of the rainforests.

    - transparent paper

    - pencils, scissors

    - paint ( We used neon green and orange acrylic paint.) - but it´s your choice.

    - paper (best ,of course: recycled paper) , we  found a roll of old printingpaper in

our storage. But you can also use  normal recycled paper ,size Din A3 .

    - cutted  sponge pieces ( insted of brushes)

    - flat bowles for the paint (or painter´s palettes)

    - 1-2 Eddings or big pencil

    - some glue sticks and 1 tape

    - maybe prepared claims or slogans.

(Stop palm oil! Palm oil kills rainforest.! ) What you prefere!

    First lesson:

discussion/ information  time: If there´s need for. (some of the classes I did this project ,were very well informed.)

Tell your students about the palm oil problem and the bitterly cosequences for rainforests and it´s inhabitants.

Tell them, how important the tropical forests are - also for us and our climate, (oxygen and carbon dioxid) and as treasure-box for medical research.

Discuss with your class , what you want to say to Mr. Cañete, from the EU –Commission for Climate.

Fix your claims with your class!

    Start working:

    1. Each child chooses an animal from rainforest, to trace it on transparent

paper. Ist good to fix the paper on the table or book with a piece of tape.

It´s good to mention, not to forget to draw also smaler parts or

        details.

The good thing: even children ,who aren´t artistic drawers, produce nice beautiful

    pictures. Everybody has fun .

    2. Than they should think about the words /speech of their animal

        and write it down.

    3. Pupils which are faster, can pepare the paper for the train.

From a paper roll, they shall cut pieces .

        Two pieces are  for the front and the end of train ;

and then the pieces for the wagons. ( It depends on how many students

are working on one wagon .)

    4. Draw with pencils the outlines of the big window of your wagon.

(We´ve chosen the German ICE-Train model – you are free to take you favorite.)

    5. Some pupils could draw the trainfront with window and your flag of the country

and  than write your school address and the recipient down.

    for the teacher:

During break you should copy the animals and the words to a bigger size.

Look that they fit into wagonsize.

(The Acrylic paint  ist easier to colour on copied pictures and words.)
