What is a bestiary?
A bestiary, or bestiarum vocabulum, is a compendium of beasts. Originating in the ancient world, bestiaries were made popular in the Middle Ages in illustrated volumes that described various animals and even rocks. The natural history and illustration of each beast was usually accompanied by a moral lesson. Wikipedia
You are going to collect an analiyze animals and mythologycal creatures from Greco-Roman antiquity:
-Creatures made up of animals and human beings: Minotaur, Satyr, Centaur and Medusa.
-Hybrid creatures: Chimera, Griffin, Pegasus, Sphynx, Harpies, Sirens, Stymphalian birds and Orthrus.
-Gygantic and tiny beings: Cyclops, Pygmies, Poliphemus and Atlas.
Each international team will make a Genially presentation on a different mythologycal creature to elaborate the final product that will be a Google presentation of the Classical Bestiary.
Instructions for making the presentation
a-The Genially presentation will consist of the following sections:
1-Name and etymology of the monster from Ancient Greek and Latin (in English).
2-Monster`s genealogy and ancient literary sources (in English).
3-Monster`s description written and oral in English, Greek, Spanish and Basque)
4-Monster`s iconography and multimedia materials (films, documentaries, comics...) (in English).
5-Monster`s symbolism (in English)
6-Monster`s survival and influence on Western culture (arts, literature, cinema...) (in English).
b-Do not forget to mention the sources from where you get the information.
c-Use public domain or royalty-free images.
d-Assessment rubric.
