IISS Ettore Majorana
The "E. Majorana” school is located in Genzano di Lucania, a small town in the South Italy, with approximately 5.000 inhabitants. It is a public school with 4 main courses:
1) Scientific High School;
2) High School of Human Sciences;
3) Agricultural institute;
4) Technical and commercial institute.
There are about 600 students in our secondary school, between 14-18 years old, and about 100 teachers. It is an inclusive school and there are students with special needs and special need teachers.
The "E. Majorana ", according with the current legislation, aims to create an environment dominated by the culture of inclusion, thus responding effectively to the needs of each student who needs " Special Education".
The Institute's priorities are:
a) Raising the levels of education and skills of students, respecting their learning times and anchorages;
b) countering socio-cultural and territorial inequalities;
c) preventing and recovering early school leaving;
d) guarantee the right to study and the same opportunity to all the students for educational success.
To "guarantee educational and training success", the institute undertakes to:
• Create a welcoming environment in which the pupil can be adequately supported;
• Support learning by personalizing the curriculum and developing educational attention for full social and cultural integration;
• Encourage the active participation of all students in the learning process;
• Encourage the acquisition of collaborative skills;
• Promote inclusive political cultures and practices through closer collaboration between all components of the educating community.
