Magnetic Accelerator

  • We screwed the steel screws into the wooden batten in the same distance to put magnets on them.

The ball, which approaches the magnet is accelerated thanks to the influence of the magnet with the ferromagnet. The force of the influence near the magnet is very strong which helps the ball obtain quite a big velocity. At the moment of the collision with the magnet, the ball has quite big speed , which it transmits to the magnet and then the balls on the other side in the almost ideal springy collision.

The ball on the other side is moved away from the magnet at a distance equal to the diameter of the other identical ball. In a collision, because the masses are identical, momentum and energy is totally transfered to the ball, which needs much less energy to get out from the force of the magnet. Now, if we accelerate a few times more we can get quite big speeds.
