5.3. Job shadowings in Cecina, Tuscany (Italy). Participant teachers: Pilar Torres and Beatriz Aranda. December, 2021

      During the week of 26 November to 3 December, 2021, the teachers Beatriz Aranda and Pilar Torres have attended the observation of teaching practices (Job shadowing) in Cecina, in the Italian Tuscany, within the project:

      ERASMUS KA101 "Focusing on and out: Attention to diversity and Environment" with teacher training and mobilities on attention to diversity and the environment.

      The aim of this mobility was to observe good teaching practices related to attention to diversity. For this purpose, both teachers have attended the I.S.I.S. Marco Polo Cattaneo, in Cecina, Italy.

      Cecina (Italian pronunciation: [ˈtʃɛːtʃina]) is a comune (municipality) of 28,322 inhabitants in the Province of Livorno in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) southwest of Florence and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southeast of Livorno.

      The territory of Cecina borders the following municipalities: BibbonaCasale MarittimoCastellina MarittimaGuardistalloMontescudaioRiparbellaRosignano Marittimo.

      An archaeological park close to the town houses the remains of a Roman villa from the 1st century BC.

      Italian education is free and compulsory up to the age of 16. Most institutions are public; however, there are also public schools that meet state requirements.

      It is divided into three stages: primary, secondary and superior. Compulsory education comprises the whole cycle of primary education, lower secondary education and the first two years of upper secondary education. When the pupil reaches this last stage, he/she will decide what type of study he/she will pursue.
      At I.S.I.S. Marco Polo Cattaneo this second cycle of secondary education is taught, both in the technical and vocational itinerary. Thus, this centre is composed of two institutes, the I.P.S.C. Marco Polo and the I.T.E. Carlo Cattaneo, and offers a plurality of courses of study.

          Escuela Secundaria Artística

          Instrucción para adultos (curso nocturno)

      El I.T.E Carlo Cattaneo is the place for the following vocational studies (In Spanish):

          Economía AFM (Administración, Finanzas y Marketing) y SIA (Sistema de información de la empresa)

          Agrario, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente

          Turismo
