Origamist Schools

  • since 1933, ATATURK ORTAOKULU, İzmir,TURKEY

Our school is located in the center of Aliağa (near Izmir) since 1933. Most of our students’ families have moved from the different parts of Turkey, and settled here in Aliağa for work.

We believe that our project will not only help our students but also their families and the school staff have a better understanding of the EU values while making sure that these values become a part of their lives and thereby leading them to feel that they are a part of Europe. Through this project we also would like to demonstrate our students that no matter how different countries and cultures are from each other, mathematics boasts a universal power and common values. Eventually this should prove to the target participants and audience of our project that each and every one of us shares more in common than we have ever imagined.
Moreover, our project will be contributing to the development of the students’ skills for mathematics and foreign languages. Thanks to their improved skills and broadened horizons, the students will be equipped better for further improving their future lives, setting higher standards, carriers and goals in life. They will thus be more than sufficiently motivated to realize their potentials to the full.

Our school is in the middle of the field, in a small town called Perthes-en-Gâtinais. This is in Ile de France, about an hour from Paris. It was established fairly recently (1995), and has about 510 students, 19 classes and 37 teachers. Our establishment looks like a farm and it is built in a circle, this way you can’t get lost, just walk straight and you go back to where you started. In our school, we have bilingual classes, and we are part of one, in a German- English class. We can learn several languages including Italian, Spanish, German, Latin, English, Greek ... In two years, we will take an exam called “brevet des colleges”, like all the French students. We have a lot of different courses: mathematics, French, sciences, technology, English, Spanish or  Italian, music, arts, history and geography, physical chemistry, sport .... Some students start every day at 8 am and end at 17 pm! Long days with lots of homework sometimes...

We are a high school located in La Manchuela, a region placed in east-southern Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Our town, Casas Ibáñez, is sorrounded by two rivers: Júcar and Cabriel, so we are lucky to have beautiful landscapes around us.

The high school offers studies related to the Spanish secondary school and bachelor's degree, therefore we have students from 12 to 18 years old. In addition, nowadays, we also offer two different ways of vocational training: one has to do with nursery and the other with car repairing.

Some years ago we focused on bilingual education and as a result of that we have been able to implement the CLIL in several sections of our curricular offer such that Mathematics, Science, ICT and Physical Education. And as a result of that and a ongoing interest on improving and widen our knowledge and passion for new methodologies we are proud to be part of this etwinning project which will be carried out by two groups of eigth grade students.
