HTL Weiz

  • HTL Weiz is a technical secondary high school located in Weiz - the southern part of Austria. The school offers 3 different branches for its 1100 students between 14 and 19 years.
Electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and ecological engineering. Students can make their level A exams, which entitles them to enter university or start working right after school (which approx. 50% do).
The school is located in the middle of a highly industrialized area of Austria and this (car) supply industry has got a high demand for
engineers. So our well educated students have good opportunities on the job market.

On the other hand we have another department (Fachschule) which can be compared to an apprenticeship in a company. Their curriculum is more practical oriented. After 3 1/2 years the leave school without A-level and in many cases it is hard for them to find a job. These students usually come from families with low income and/or low education or they have a migration background.  These students need special training and motivation in order to find their place in our society. We want to focus on these students during our project work, since they are usually not so integrated in the classes and extra courses
