How to create our Book of Culture?

  • Our Book of Culture

The subject of our Book of Cultures is to present experiences and results we make/made during our work on the project  “Same but different”:  We are Europe, europeans – but: What is European and what is particular or individual?

Our principal objective is to be open-minded for new experiences and  to call in question our prejudices and stereotypes we might have.  We would like to know more in detail different lifestyles and are curious about different customs, traditions and behaviours.

So please, be curious, ask questions to the family and teachers about what is new to you or what you probably may not understand (food, behaviour, role of family members, school- and everyday life, use of media...). Note, what you think is surprising and new and what you experience to be similar to your own lifestyle – and what you didn’t expect.

In general you are free to create a product which could describe/ present/ summarize your experiences in the Learning Activity at the Partner school.  Every country should at least prepare and present one of the following tasks (if you want to do more, you are welcome),  for example:

    • Tell a short (photo)-story ( by a digital or analogue presentation), show photos of interesting/ surprising/ ugly/ beautiful objects and comment them.  Please,  don’t take photos of people who don’t want it and never public photos in the internet / in Facebook without having the permission of the persons you took a photo of.
    • Take photos and create a footsore to tell how you experience the German way of life (think of your stereotypes about the Germans and page
    • Create a collage of your stay in Germany
    • Paint a picture
    • Prepare a game (like Tabu/ a crossword puzzle ...) to know more about the different countries
    • Write a report  or do an interview (might be per mail...)
    • You want to act? Write and play a short roleplay / do a handy movie/ a radio report ...

Relative to the programme  in Germany you could think about what you may have learned about yourself and your partners during our activities:

    • the football – competition to get the official badge of the German Football – Union (DFB)
    • the intercultural games (tree of life, shaking hands, ...)
    • the reading and exchange with Mikel Jentzsch and the Nigerian refugee Marcus about what does friendship means and what are reasons to risk its life...i
    • the development of men  in the Neanderthal –Museum
    • diversity of nature in Oberhausen
    • and last but not least we did our farewell party in the youth club of Ratingen
    • and you did a lot of things in your leisure time what might be even more specified to see how youth in Europe spend its time...
