JOINT STAFF TRAINING IN POLAND

  • The teachers of science subjects and English took part in the joint training concerning the techniques of creative thinking, learning and self-development in Poland. The training was held by Mr Marek Szurawski - an interpreter, journalist, passionate sailor and a specialist in the field of comprehensive development of human mental capabilities. He has been leading diversified training and lectures on modern techniques of creative thinking, learning and self-development over twenty years. He is the author of three bestselling books: "Memory. Interactive Training ","Memory and intellect. Master training" and "Memory for a lifetime. Grand master training". The teachers gained knowledge and skills within the techniques of creative learning which they are going to use during compulsory lessons and remedial classes to help the students, especially those with learning problems, to acquire new information and learn effectively. They acquired skills to teach how to learn and have fun! They got to know modern memory systems, the influences upon greater efficiency of learning as well as how to use the full potential of  own personality and originality and recognize and practice individual strategies of effective learning. Knowing and practicing modern tools of intellectual work like mind mapping, basic mnemonics, speed reading and intuition and the role of imagination in the process of learning were very important issues discussed during the course. The teachers learnt how to create the environment of optimal brain’s work and how to attain greater efficiency of learning in today’s school.

    • When and under what conditions we learn better?
    • How better learning can influence our global future?

    • What’s the future of human work?
    • Main mechanisms, rules and stages of memorising
    • Brain’s work during learning procedures
    • Stages of learning
    • Rule of abundance
    • Rule of creativity
    • Memory techniques
    • Main memory systems

The joint staff training also allowed them to work out new methods of work which are meant to raise the standards of teaching. Mutual sharing of experiences helped them to see the process of teaching science and English from a different, international perspective.

During both training courses - in Cyprus and in Poland, the teachers improved their English skills (the language of both courses) by means of communicating with their foreign colleagues, and also accomplishing the tasks within the trainings. Participating in the courses together enabled the partners to get to know better and integrate which resulted in better communication and cooperation. The teachers also discussed the practical teaching solutions used in both schools and offered each other expert advice and support.

Polish and Cypriot teachers who participated in the joint staff training worked out course materials to use them in everyday teaching. The materials can be also easily used by other teachers. They present the most important information on creative thinking, learning and teaching.
