3-Meter-Model built at the MES' Open Doors Day

  • At the occasion of the Day of Open doors at MES the Erasmus craftspeople set out to build a first bigger model of the dome. The 3-meter-diameter cupola was decorated with an EU flag. Grammar school students are currently working on a film about the construction.

'Moving on from the blueprint to a real construction was great for the students. They really started to show some commitment and develop an interest in the technical features. Moreover, this experience will serve us to plan and carry out the construction on site in Spain. In Spain we want to construct a similar dome with a diameter of 8 or 9 meters. Using quite heavy timbers as long as 2 meters requires a careful planning', technical instructor Distelmann commented.
