THE IMPORTANCE OF WATER IN THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF OUR CITY

Students of the 3rd Gymnasium of Naoussa had the chance to get acquainted with a clean energy source, that of WATER, or “white carbon”, as called to showcase its importance and worth, thanks to the programme “threads and yarns on industrial Naoussa’s spinning wheels”, conducted by the Centre of Environmental Education of Naoussa ( CEEN).

The students, following Arapitsa’s flow through the town, got to know the town’s industrial heritage, fathomed the importance of water to its financial and social growth, but were also disappointed by the factories’ abandonment preceding the locality’s withering. The program was complete after a visit to a former sesame mill (currently hosting the “Genitsaroi & Boules” cultural society) and a former industrial facility, now housing administrative services and spaces for cultural events.
