There is always talk of the environment and city decor. We all want a cleaner San Nicandro, streets without litter, more comfortable urban furnishings. Shortly, we would all like to live better in an environment where everyone really lives better.

Why should we start from the environment? Because you have to act as the painter when he paints a picture, have a canvas available and then make it a masterpiece. What actions should be taken to obtain a sufficiently appreciable result? First of all make San Nicandro a common recycler, but  separate waste that exceeds at least 65 percent is needed. However, a step forward has been taken. In fact, it went from 36/37 per cent with the old management to exceed, even slightly, 50 per cent. This means that a lot of work has been done but it is not enough and, surely, with the modernization of the municipal ecocenter the results of the separate waste collection could be more important.

But, at the same time, other initiatives need to be taken other than the increase in waste bins located in other parts of our town and road containers for cigarette butts, also involving public businesses to do the same in front of their business. Another action to be taken is the monitoring of families that don’t have different bins for recycling rubbish, they evidently do not pay municipal taxes. This action should be coordinated with the ecological operators who daily collect the litter. Then again intensify the cleaning of the streets and the installation of planters along the busiest streets to make the areas even more beautiful and interesting.

COP25 CLIMATE SUMMIT IN SPAIN

The 2019 UN Climate Change Conference (COP25) is taking place in Madrid, Spain, where 25,000 delegates are meeting to discuss the Paris climate deal and after the EU declared a "climate emergency".
