Earth Day in Siauliai university gymnasium

  • Continuing the Earth Day series of events, on Wednesday, March 21, students in grades III c and III d organized an action dedicated to Earth Day. The students, making spring decorations, put out a stand where they wrote tips on how to save their planet by acting responsibly. Gymnasium students suggested changing plastic shopping bags to fabric ones, using disposable utensils as little as possible, saving paper (printing on both sides), then collecting waste paper and recycling it, sorting waste, especially used batteries. On that day, even the call of the gymnasium sounded with the words of E. DrungytÄ—'s poem, which turned into a popular song, "This land was given to me by fate / Gray sky, snow gardens and a castle". The director of ŠU Botanical Garden, lecturer M. Kazlauskas, gave a lecture "Red and blacklists of plants" to the students. The lecturer pointed out and illustrated with examples the causes of plant extinction, the vector of the spread of invasive organisms, explained why it is important to stop plant extinction and the development of alien plants. The thirds also took care of organic food - they organized tastings of nuts, seeds, and dried fruits, inviting them to pay attention to a healthy and wholesome diet.
