H.O.V. Alemdag Tunc Capa Anadolu Lisesi is located in Alemdag, which is a district town of Cekmekoy

on the Anatolian side of Istanbul. It was founded in 2008 by the Hüsnü M.Özyeğin Foundation which is a private foundation dedicated to promoting the social and economic development of Turkey by supporting initiatives in the fields of education, girls empowerment, health and culture.Many students are immigrants from the rural areas in Black Sea Region. The school is situated 13km outside of Cekmekoy, therefore, most of the students come to school using public transport or school services. H.O.V. Alemdag Tunc Capa Anadolu Lisesi is a high school with 806 students and 24 classes and 48 teachers. Our school provides intensive English courses and the students are encouraged to study for social science, science and maths. As a school, we have had two Erasmus+ projects in which we learnt a lot from different nations about various subjects and their cultures.

According to the surveys and tests applied on students, the misuse and spending too much time on digital technology (mostly smartphones) are very common among our students as well as their parents. The students state that they are failing in exams because of using too much smartphones. Even some of the students are complaining about the lack of communication with their parents due to the time spent with social media on smart phones. In recent years, we have also had some discipline problems in which some people were affected badly for misusing internet and social media. In fact it is a very common serious problem in our country as well as in our school. Our society has a very strong relationship with technology, there are many ways in which our society misuses technology, but we think and see that the most important is the over dependence on it. We see that technology misuse is not limited to the schools or home, but is found in everywhere.

Studying in this project helps the students and parents develop their awareness about using technologies well as finding an answer to the questions how we can benefit from the positive aspects of technology, change, progress and how we can avoid technology misuse. With this project, our teachers, students and parents learn new methodologies about using technology safely and ways of preventing misuse of technology.

All the teachers at the school are involved in the project actively with our foreign language teachers. We have some skilful students and teachers, good at using and managing technology that will help to improve our project.
