DAY 3: Specialist leaders in education Canons

  • Today we enjoyed some interesting sessions on different subjects in the field of education.

We began the day looking at feedback can raise attainment.

We had another colleague from a neighbouring school deliver some training on how questioning can be used to extend and challenge our students.

The next hour aim at how we could bring challenge to all the aspects of what we do at school.

We also learnt about practical ways we can support our students to access their new challenging curriculum through scaffolding.

Finally we learnt about current research on the idea of cognitive load, in order for us to acheive challenge we need to provide our students with the tools to do so.

    Final evaluation of the day

All the sessions were very interesting and we learned many new things. It was interesting to see how teachers at Canons are using scientific research to improve their teaching practice and are very thankful to all the teachers who talked to us on all these interesting topics. Our absolute favourite was the talk about Scaffolding. All in all, it was an extremely interesting day, although at the end we did reach a bit of a "cognitive overload". :-)
