The city of Patras
Our school is located in Patras, the third largest city of Greece and the regional capital of Western Greece in the northern Peloponnese, 215 km west of Athens, the capital. The city is built at the foothills of Mount Panachaikon, overlooking the Gulf of Patras. Our city has a population of about 200,000 people. Its top sights include the New Archaeological Museum, the Rio-Antirrio Bridge that is one of the world’s longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges, St Andrew’s Cathedral, the Patras Fortress which was built around the mid-6th century, and the Roman Odeum which hosts numerous cultural events every summer.
School & Curriculum
The 45th Primary School of Patras opened in 2002. It is situated in a suburban area of Patras named Begoulaki. The area was formerly known as “Mylous” since it had a lot of mills. It is a public school enrolling about 200 students. The school subjects taught include Greek, English, French, German, Geography, Maths, Religious Education, Environmental Studies, Information Technology, Arts, Music, Science and Physical Education.
Staff & Educational programs
The staff consists of 23 well qualified, experienced and highly motivated teachers. Personal and professional development is critical for all of us since we wish to keep abreast of new knowledge and expand our abilities. To this end, we participate in various seminars, training courses, webinars and conferences.
We also try to engage our students in different projects that can raise their awareness on miscellaneous subjects. Projects pertaining to the environment, recycling, the arts, the history of both Greece and Europe, bullying, sports, and literature are some of the projects that have been organized or are currently active. But most of all we strive to aid our students to succeed both academically and personally so as to become well rounded and balanced people.
