  • UNESCO NATURAL SITES IN ITALY

    UNESCO promotes the individuation, the protection and the preservation of the cultural and natural heritage in the world, as established by the World Heritage Convention in 1972.

    World Heritage sites belong to the people of the world regardless of the territory in which they are located.

    On the Italian peninsula there are 5 natural sites registered in the World Heritage:

    • Aeolian Islands
    • Volcan Aetna parc
    • Mount San Giorgio
    • Dolomites
    • The ancient beech forests of Sasso Fratino in the National Parc of the Casentino.
