Collaborative writing, publishing and summer fest

  • From 1st to 5th August 2021 was short-term exchange of group of pupils. Host organisation was 5o Gymnasio Chanion from Greece.

    Timetable:

    Day 1

    Educational visit to the Museum of Typography and the facilities of the local newspaper "Chaniotika Nea’, the students had the opportunity to learn the history of typography, they have also seen how a newspaper is published today and they met reporters and learned more about profesional ICT tools used for writing and publishing

    Day 2

    Visit to the provincial press institute and debate about the role of the provincial press in the local community, the students had the opportunity to participate in a conference about the role of traditional press in the modern society of the internet

    Day 3

    Creative writing workshop at school, the students practiced collaborative writing, they  improved their language and ICT skills

    Day 4

    Excursion to Heraklion and educational visit to the archaeological museum of Heraklion and the archaeological site of Knossos, an educational as well as entertaining activity that helped our students to learn more about our common European heritage and write a diary about it

    Day 5

    Student theater performance and summer fest with traditional dances and music, an entertaining activity that helped our students to improve their communication skills and bond with their European mates

     

    These activities were related to our Greek school’s normal activities because recently we had the end of the school year feast and our students gave their theatrical and dance performances, by the end of the school year we also have organised thematic weeks with various activities and we could choose the topic of the 2021 week to be students’ european journalism.

     

    The students learned more about our common european culture, learned to understand and appreciate more their international friends regardless of the language and cultural differences, they improved their communicative and writing skills and learned more about journalism and publishing.
