Part 1 - Estonia - written by Julia

„Come quickly to Hawaii.“ Everyone from the EUtopia+ project got this short message on their devices. After the message there were two options: Accept or Decline. If they would press decline, they would stay home and probably never find out why they were called to Hawaii but if they press Accept, they would get teleported to Hawaii. Some hesitated and decided to press Decline because they weren’t sure if they will really get to Hawaii, they decided not to trust a message that doesn’t have a sender. Most project members decided to press Accept and got teleported into a weird room. The room had a lot of screens and there were a lot of weird things written on those screens, mostly in binary code. When everyone saw each other, they were extremely happy and felt secure. Everybody talked and asked how the others were. Even though all of the countries melted into one, it wasn’t still that easy to get into touch because of the busy life-style. The world right now is green and very modern and also sustainable but so that it could be like that, everyone has to work hard. Technology developed very fast too, people can teleport now but some still use flying cars and flying public transport.

Suddenly someone asked: „Weren’t we supposed to get to Hawaii? This room doesn’t seem very sunny...“ Everyone started mumble and started to get a bit scared until the biggest screen started flickering. They looked at the screen and a message appeared: Welcome to the World Control Centre, we have a mission for you. On this main screen you will see a code and you will have to decipher it in  6 days. If you can do it, you will turn this world into a real utopia, it will be even better than it is right now. If you fail, then...…your memories of this mission and one another will be wiped entirely…

Part 2 – the Irish students

    Day 1

“Okay, let’s get all the tech people together!” exclaimed Margarida.

Very few people sheepishly raised their hands.

“Seems like we are going nowhere with this” Paul groaned.  “Let’s have a look at the code”

Everybody came together and started brainstorming how to figure out the code. We wrote down our ideas in notebooks and started planning.

The hours of hectic work passed really slowly for the group and everyone soon felt tired.

“Are we going to be locked here for six whole days?” Gloria panicked.

“And what are meant to do about foooood?!” cried Robert.

In a glimpse, a plate full of pizza appeared in front of everyone. It disappeared within a few minutes. Everybody was exhausted after the long day and fell asleep on their chairs.

    Day 2

The next morning everybody woke up groaning, distressed and tense after the previous night. The group needed to get some progress going if they wanted to crack the code.

“Gosh, it’s like the movie ‘The Imitation Game’, except we are all Benedict Cumberbatch….” Julia sighed.

Plans were beginning to be posted up on walls. The despised code was twelve digits long… what could it mean?

People were getting more and more frustrated as time went by. As people got angrier, the screens around them got darker.

“The screens seem to react to our feelings!” Anja gasped.

“They don’t want us to be annoyed at one another, they want the opposite… to create a utopia. We must be positive for this to work!” Angela exclaimed.

But it was too late. The screens let out a deafening noise and everything shut down. The EU-Topia group was left in a complete darkness…

    Day 3

After a rough night trying to figure out how to get the electricity back on, everyone fell asleep in the morning. Well, they didn't even know it was morning, because the batteries of all their phones were dead.

A few hours later Julia suddenly woke up from a nightmare. She saw everyone sleeping and realized that they cannot just wait around doing nothing and started shouting : „Guys wake up, wake up...!”

All Eutopia members were shocked and woke up on point. (Ange was confused) Julia continued :”We have to get the screen back on or the world is not going to be the same good place as it was before. We don't want to be the people who destroy all life on earth! This is a crisis we need to fight against!”

Then Leonie, who was married to Justin Bieber and had become a famous pop-star in the meantime, remembered that she had a future phone (iPhone 50) which never runs out of battery. She had totally forgotten about it because of her sickness, dementia.

She said: “I can call my manager and he could help us from outside.”

Everyone agreed and they all were optimistic that they would find a way to decipher the code as soon as the screen was back on.

She called her manager and handed the phone to a very clever guy from the group called Freddy. He told him exactly what to do and seconds later a generator appeared: “PLING” !

All of the members worked together and after a few hours the screen was back on and they could continue figuring out what the code means...

    Day-4

They wanted to know more about this code. From here they can’t find the code and the code was their only option. They had to find the code to be a real Eu-topia of the World. If the World would be completely destroyed. But he had no idea how they found their code. They should work hard. Suddenly, an article appeared on the main screen:

‘You still haven’t completed your mission. It’s Your fourth day here and the World is about to destroy. You only  have two days.’’

This article was imbued them with a little more concern  but certainly it should be a way. But what ? He didin’t go to any of these questions in mind. Day by day his more were numb. For several days they couldn’t get a single bite their mouths. Iphone 50 didn’t even useless. Hopes were ending every second. To find the code for unity and understanding they had to meet. Which it was increasingly difficult. Because it increases hunger and drseases are growing in. They were sitting with thought, not knowing what to do.

    Freddy ‘’There must be a way, there must be a way ‘’ he cried irritably. Nevertheless not useless to say these words.It Works in these desperate screen. Screens were making strange noises. Somehow started to cry now completely cut off the hope Julia. Humming;

‘’It is all over, we come to the end of the road. There are only two days, but we have no idea about what to do’’ could say.

She tried to calm her close friend Gloria. She calmed down a bit. They fell asleep on the sofa while hunger and fatigue. And then, Julia woke up and screamed:

‘’Hey guys wake up. I figured the way to find to code… ‘’

    Part 5 written by Italy

    -”Guys, i dreamt the code!”.

So Julia told about her dream: she was alone in the room, closed her eyes, and tried to remember the code; she was thinking about the full code, and when she opened her eyes the display became totally clear, showing the full code. But, being a dream, it was short, and she didn't remember the whole sequence of the code, composed of 12 bits. She could remember only the first part , 8 bits. It was 10011101****… just 4 bits were missing. Just 4 bits to solve the code.

The Eutopian + crew tried to solve the problem through conversions, methods, experiments, without a positive ending. They felt frustrated and sad, because they couldn't find a solution. Then they started to work not as they should and the display became dark.

But, the Italian guys, had an idea, they would ask the Wombats for help.

Who were the wombats? in an area called 202, in Palermo.  scientists from all Eutopian countries worked on any subjects and sciences, The Eutopian + guys knew that they were the only ones who could help them. The problem was: how could they send the message? The members of Eutopia+ could not leave the room, so they could not teleport to area 202. The guys' hope became darker and darker.

Julia then made some connections, saying that the human mind can memorize any type of events, and, according to Julia, there was an object that could work like the human mind: a digital recorder, whici could record the signals from the external world and save all. So, taken by the enthusiam, the display started to be clear, showing the first part of the code, it was the one Julia had dreamt: 1001101****.

They made  this digital recorder and they started to register a Morse code message: -”we are the Eutopia+team,  we are talking to the Wombats, please help us, we are in trouble, we have to decipher a code, only you can help us, if you'are hearing this, teleport here, if we can't solve the code within a day, the world will have serious consequences.”  then they teleported the digital recorder and its message into the area 202.

In the area 202 the Wombats, who could read and write the Morse code, listened to this "tic tic"..They understood the serious situation and through the signals generated by the recorder, discovered the coordinates of where it came from. So six of them  teleported themselves, found the eutopian team and  began to work together.

Then the display started to show the full code, but just as they were so close to find the solution, the display became completely dark, and few seconds later, all the lights went off in the room, and all the calculations and the solution, were gone.

Then, one of the Wombats said: -”There is something wrong, the display is black again, and the work is gone!'. And another answered: -”We are working very hard, why is the display black? And where are the screnshots?”. Was someone trying to sabotage their work? Or was the Eutopian team’s fear and desperation to find a solution working against them? Were the conflicts that had arisen inside the Eutopian group playing them this terrible trick?   The wombats asked the guys to calm down, relax, think about the wonderful moments spent together during the Eutopia + project. They needed to be hopeful and to stick together in harmony if they wanted to find a solution, Desperation faded away and everyone went back to work, the display became clear again, showing the full code, and the Eutopian+ team, along with the Wombats, managed to dechiper the code. The solution was so simple! They couldn't believe. The solution was 'Harmony'.

Part 6  - Portugal ( written by Concha, Rita and Miriam)

Right in front of them was the full code. They immediately recognized those numbers. The code was their password on "Harmony". "Harmony" was a social network they used to communicate and to share photos with each other but due to their busy lives they no longer used it. They didn't know what they were looking for and time was scarce. They had less than 30 minutes to solve the problem and to reestablish the Utopia in the world. Concha, who was entirely hopeless, started to look at the photos from the project. She realized that there were some hidden words in the group photos taken in every country. In the first group photo, taken in Ireland, there were two words on the left side right under Robert. She looked at the next photo that was taken on the trip to Italy and discovered two more words next to her big friend Davide. She looked at the group photos taken in Germany, Estonia, Portugal and finally in Turkey. In the end she had formed the sentence: "Never forget your friends; friendship is the most important thing in life". Quickly, Concha entered the sentence in the main computer and suddenly a red button appeared. She pressed the red button and nothing happened. The hope started to disappear again. They had 5 minutes to solve the problem. They started to think about a solution but they were nervous, they couldn't think about anything. Suddenly, Zé Mário, who had the most random ideas, said that everyone should press the button at the same time. So, he counted 1,2, 3 and all of them pressed the button. “We did it!”, someone screamed. They did it and the world was Utopian again. They promised to visit each other at least once a week and once a month there was a EU-TOPIA + project meeting. They were honoured by the other world's citizens and lived happily ever after.
