Scene 1: The message
Text, auf Handydisplay
|
voiceover robotic voice/Alexa/Siri? “Come quickly to France, specifically to Paris. Urgent. We will expect you at the Eiffel Tower. Then we will explain the reasons in more detail!”
|
|
Scene 2: First reactions
EU-topia members talking to each other or phoning/skyping each other?
Close ups of the persons speaking to each other in their living-rooms/at work/in the kitchen?
|
“Hi ______ Did you get the message, too?”
“Yes, but why should we come to Paris, what’s wrong?”
“No idea, it sounds very mysterious. What do they want with us, we are already over 50 years old!”
“And most of us have children, some are already grandparents! Do they want us to come to some kind of meeting?”
“I’m really curious, I think I will go. It might be something exciting.”
“That’s true. Let’s have an adventure like when we were young and not even the sky was the limit!”

Scene 3: The trip
Medium shot:
Members from Germany sitting on the high speed underground train
|
“Do you remember how long it took us to travel to the Erasmus mobilities when we were students? Now it’s only 20 minutes from Fulda to Paris with those super modern high-speed underground trains!”
“It’s really amazing how things have changed. All the European countries are so interconnected today, and even Turkey is a part of the European Union!”
“I’m so excited to see all our friends from our EU-topia project again after so many years. We had such a great time together!”
“And I really want to find out what that mysterious message is about!”

Scene 4: Reunion
Medium shot:
Meeting of all the members at the bus stop at the airport, hugs, tears, lots of excitement
|
everybody talking excitedly to each other at the same time
“Look, the land airbus is arriving! Let’s go to the Eiffel Tower!”
|
Greenscreen? oder Bushaltestelle?
|
Scene 5: On the land airbus
Medium shot: Members chat with each other/admire landscape while sitting on airbus
|
“I just love these new means of public transport. What a great idea to construct buses that straddle the roads so that the cars can pass underneath them!”
“Adios traffic jams!”
“And they only use biofuels made from compost, did you know that?”
“So many things have changed to the better after World War III, just look at the scenery, it looks like a real utopia.”
“Wow, and look how Paris has changed! There are so many green spaces between the skyscrapers, and gardens everywhere.”
“Are those wind trees?”
“Yes, and there are light bottles everywhere along the sidewalks, too.”
“And all the houses have solar panels, amazing!”

Scene 6: At the Eiffel Tower
Medium shot:
Members sitting on the ground in front of the Eiffel Tower, look at old photos from the Erasmus+ project
|
“Oh, look! That was in Ireland, do you remember it?”
“Yes, and here is a picture from the mobility in Italy. The weather was so beautiful!”
“And this was in Germany in front of Fulda Cathedral.”
“And here, Anja and Lena on the summer slide in the Rhoen Mountains. We had so much fun together!”
Merilin (looking up from the album, looking at the other members) “Everybody has changed so much!”
“Of course, our last meeting was 35 years ago!”
“Look at us, how fashionably we are dressed today with clothes only made of recycled materials!”
“And our modern phones and other devices that we have today. Those cell phones and laptops from 2016 look so old-fashioned in comparison!”
“Do you know what else is very different? Smell the air!”
“Wow, yes, it smells so clean now that there are only hybrid and electric cars powered by our new oil, lithium.”
“It was a great idea to found the “Green Land” with the very high environmental standards that all countries have to observe very closely. Now the air even in the big cities is nice and clean.”
“That’s right. But why have we been called to Paris? What’s the problem?”
“I have no idea. Do you know anything?”
(everybody shakes their heads)
“Very mysterious.”
(everybody nodds their heads)

Scene 7: Euaims talks to the Erasmus people
all smart devices beeping, everybody lookes surprised when all receive the same message
|
Voiceover: “Welcome, my name is Euaims. I am the European Union Artificial Intelligence Monitoring Station. You have been selected to solve an impending crisis that will result in the end of humanity as we know it.
With the EU-Topia + project you drew up the blueprints for an ideal European Union Society.
The European Union has used a lot of your ideas to allow the Union to evolve into the “Green Land”, like the High speed train network and the biofuels policy, recycled clothes and wind trees.”
“Oh, wow, I didn’t know that.”
“Yeah, we can be really proud of our work together!”
“Long live the Eu-topia + project!”
(everybody cheers and claps)
“But we still don’t know what the problem is. Why did you call us here to Paris?”
Euamims: “Look around you. You still look young, not much different from 2016. People today are living well into their 130’s. This has led to dangerous overcrowding. Unless an effective solution can be designed I will reduce the population to a more suitable level …………………….. YOU HAVE 48 HOURS
(Everybody looks at each other, shocked)
“Oh no, that’s really awful, what can we do?”
“They can’t just kill half of the population, can they?”
“We need to do something, but what?”

Scene 8: Ideas
|
Giulia (leader of italian team stands up) : “ We have already found a solution but we aren’t sure it’ll work.”
(everybody looking at her waiting for her to continue)
“In secret, we from the Italian team of the Eutopia + project have started to think about the solution to this problem already. We started to observe the planet Kepler. It was found at the beginning of 1996, and in 2015 we found out that it is very similar to the Earth. After world war three we tried to send a group of men and women to this new world.”
Sean: “So, how did it go?”
Federico: “It's possible to live there. Now we are planning to send half of the world’s population to Kepler. But how can we do that in such a short time?”
"We could use the Teleport 2050, we have already tried it , but you can send only one person at a time.”
Jule: “Hold on…I’ve got an idea!” (jumps up excitedly)

Greenscreen

Scene 9: The fellowship of the Eu-Topia
|
Jule: “Yes, I probably found the solution but it is too risky.’
“I am an space engineer in a secret NASA project. It’s a teleportation machine. But not like Teleport 2050. This one is much better. We can send millions of objects at once. We have already teleported many objects on the earth. The results were very succesful. But; we have two problems. First; we have never tried to teleport humans. And I am not so sure, can we teleport humans to another planet? It is probably too far.”
Giovanni: ‘This is too risky.’
(Everybody nodds, looks worried and scared.
Turkish project partner (stands up): ‘I volunteer for a test run. If I am successfull, you can send many people after me.’
Estonian project partner (stands up): ‘ I volunteer too.’
German, Italian, Irish, Portuguese project partners stand up:
‘We are volunteers too.’
(All the volunteers hug each other.)
One of the volunteers: “We need a name for our brave group!”
One of the volunteers: “Let’s call ourselves ‘The fellowship of the Eu-topia.’”
The others clap and cheer: “The fellowship of the Eu-topia!”

Scene 10: The teleporter
|
Jule: “Welcome at NASA Paris. Here is the teleporter. Step onto it and form a circle. Good luck!”
One volunteer (while walking towards the platform): “I am so nervous. Will we succeed?”
Another volunteer: “We must succeed. Think of what will happen if we fail.”
(Jule starts the machine, volunteers hold hands)

Scene 11: Success
the remaining partners sitting in front of the Eiffel Tower again, Jule joins them
Hours later:
some are sleeping, others playing cards, suddenly all the smart devices start beeping
|
Jule (looking worried): “Our brave Fellowship of the Eu-topia is on their way to Kepler. Now we can only hope for the best. Hopefully the Italian communication technology from Kepler to Earth works, so they can let us know when they have arrived safely,”
(Everybody looks worried.)
“OK, then we can only wait. Who wants to play cards?”
Hours later:
A big thumbs up flashed across every screen and then a message:
voiceover robot: All is well, have arrived safely, beautiful planet! Tell Euaims we’ve solved the problem. See you soon on Kepler!
(Everybody start to cheer and whoop and to hug each other)
“Long live the Fellowship of the EU-topia!”
