The Day of Hungarian Folk Tales #eTwForCulture

In the spring of 2005, the Hungarian Reading Society called everybody’s attention to the importance of the subsistence of our folk-tales. Their initiation aimed to pass down the wisdom of these tales to the next generations. So from that year, we celebrate the day of the Hungarian folk-tales on the 30th of September which is the birthday of Elek Benedek, “the great folk-tale teller”.

Folk-tales have always drifted from culture to culture, border to border, language to language. Still, they perfectly represent the characteristics of nations. They are a source of identity, tradition. If you want to know about a nation, read some of their folk-tales, they will bring you closer to their story.

    "The tale is remedy,

    the tale is a game,
    the tale is a miracle,
    the tale is belief,
    and the tale is soul.
    The smile of our soul.”

    International Music Day #eTwForCulture

On the 1st of October  the students of our school greeted each other with a surprise song at the morning of the International Music Day. The children of the lower class sing the folk song "Spring wind floods water", and they, in return, presented the song "In my garden bloomed...", a secretly learned song for the little ones. "The gift was greeted with a mutually recognizable applause. 🎼🎶

THE DAY OF THE HUNGARIAN LANGUAGE –       13TH OF NOVEMBER

The 13th of November was declared as the day of the Hungarian language . Our language is part of our cultural heritage and is the base of the national identity. A quote by Ferenc Kölcsey from his remonstrance for his nephew:

“Remember, how nice it is to know foreign languages, but learning your native until you can is an obligation.”

Hungarian is our mother tongue. We must learn, treasure and take care of it. We must try to speak clearly and follow the spelling rules. “A nation is alive in its language”. This day was a chance to celebrate our sweet language!
