Questions to the author

  • We shared questions to the Jeff Kinney here. Than we choosed the 5 best and we sent them to Wimpy Kid team.

Thanks so much for writing in and for encouraging your students to read the Wimpy Kid books!  Wow, that is so cool that you've chosen to do a unit on Wimpy Kid!

In answer to your question about receiving a video message from Jeff, please understand that Jeff receives hundreds of requests of this nature.  Due to volume, we cannot respond to these kinds of inquiries. However, if you have your students work together to come up with 5 questions for Jeff, we'd be more than happy to pass them along and have Jeff answer them.

Some additional Wimpy Kid information your students may be interested to know:

There will be a book #10, to be released in the US in November.  At this moment, Jeff has 115 jokes for it.  He needs to reach 350 jokes before he can begin writing.

There will not be any more movies with the original cast, as the kids have grown up too much to be believable as middle schoolers.  However, Jeff does hope that The Long Haul will get turned into a film with a new cast!

Stay tuned on www.wimpykid.com for the cover reveal of Book 10, which will happen at the end of April.

Thanks again for all of your support and many thanks for your understanding,

    Wimpy Kid Team

    Hi,

You have caught us during a particularly hectic time!  Jeff is up against his deadline for writing the next book AND he is trying to open his very own bookstore!  In the interest of not keeping you waiting for quite a long time, I’ve answered these questions on Jeff’s behalf.

Jeff began writing books because he didn’t have any luck getting his cartoons syndicated in a newspaper!  So, he snuck his cartoons into books and found success with this method.

He got the idea for WK when he was in his late twenties, shortly after he began writing in a journal of his own.

Jeff likes to write for this age group because he thinks it’s ripe with humor.

Yes, many of the jokes that wind up in the series are versions of actual memories or experiences that Jeff (or his family/friends) had in real life.

Jeff is so busy that he only has the time do his “reading” by listening to audiobooks!  He listens while he drives & while he draws.  His favorite book is The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson.

All the best, Wimpy Kid Team
