 Giresun is founded on a peninsula   stretching towards the sea between the Valleys of Aksu and BAtlama. The only island of the Eastern Black ,sea, Giresun Island stands to the east of peninsula

The earliest historical information about the Eastern Black Sea and Giresun is found in the works of Greek geographers and travelers. In these works, we observe that the people who lived in this area were the Kolhs, Drills, Mossinoiks, Halibs, Tibarens, Gaskas, Scythians, Kimmers, Amazonians,  Huns, Kumans, Patzinaks, Akhuns,  Sabirs, Khazars, Bulgarian Turks, and Oghuz Turks. 

 The homeland of hazelnut  and also "cherry".

 It has a magnificient scene in both mountains and seashore 

Görele is a town in Giresun and Görele Secondary School is in Görele by Black Sea.

It was founded in 1974.
