    Dream on

    eTwinning schools reflecting on the implications of the new acknowledgement

    About

    This is a short movie produced in collaboration with Schoolmovie (April, 2017, Palma Campania, Italy)

    Actors are the Italian eTwinning students of the project Dream On - amène tes reves à l'école.

    The film script has been written after the activities published in this Twinspace and it owes to the eTwinning annual thematic "Cultural heritage" a particular recognition, since through their dreams students looked after their cultural heritage.

    Whats does the eTwinning school label imply?

    This page documents a particular "experiment" we did in order to prove how and to what extend this eTwinning project could permeate other school initiatives.

    The idea took form with the announcement of the etwinning school label application published in december 2017 but already known thanks to eTwinning webinars and local seminars.

    Aims&Objectves

    Aim of the experiment was to gain as much involvement as possible by teachers and students of the school and to connect other activities and initiatives to this eTwinning project.

    Keyword

    of this experiment is the word

    rêve - dream - sogno - sonho

    Phase 1 - letting the project be known at school and by the school community

    First of all we had others be aware of the fact that at school there was an active eTwinning project. This is an example of communication on the schools social media.

    Phase 2 - getting students involved and teachers involved.

    We deliberately proceeded on project design of school activities so as to let them be connected with this eTwinning project and its keyword DREAM. this means, on the one side, to reflect upon the topic "imagine your world, imagine how you would shape it", on the other side it insists on the topic "Dreams reveal unknown knowledge, they give beauty to what you already know from the reality that surrounds you".

    So in Italy there were three major school projects who referred to the eTwinning project's topic "Dream on":

    1. Porta i tuoi sogni a scuola, a school currical project to welcome new students (September 2017)
    2. Scuola Viva, a project financed by the Region Campania with its program "Scuola Viva" POR-FSE 2014-2020. In particular the module "Indivisibili".
    3. "Un mondo a colori", a school project involving more than 500 students connected to local folklore and traditions;

    and two intiatives:

    1. "Play Energy", a contest on sustainability and environmental matters.
    2. "Schoolmovie", a collaboration with an initiative sustained by local government fpr the production of short movies... And we chose to DREAM.

    Phase 3 - Taking ideas on board.

    After dissemination of  the results of the first unit "amène tes reves à l'école", teachers became interested and asked to contribute. The ideas shared in this project are:

    1) letting new incoming students shape their dreams in order to acquire  apositive attitude towards the new school;

    2) letting students know better the territory in which they live in and explore what ties they find between themselves and their home;

    3) letting students consider what negative aspects can be transformed into opportunities, by exploring their territory or their history.

    Phase 4 - Dream on, results

    in Italy:

    Students of the eTwinning project participated not only in this eTwinning project but also il all the above mentioned school projects. The made connections with more and more teachers and students of the school, and connected the eTwinning experience also to other curricular disciplines.

    Teachers at school became involved in the eTwinning Dream-On idea and project and, so, we can could count upon the involvement of:

    1) inside curricular teachers of English, Arts, Sports, Technology (other than those of the project)

    2) outside experts: an author of books on local history, a psychologist;

    3) collaborators: parents and local government;

    4) outside organisations: Schoolmovie

    5) teachers asking to enter the Dream on - Amène tes reves à l'école eTwinning project: a teacher of Technology.

    6) another class of  French (second graders), entering the project and supporting their peer (first graders)

    Another aspect which is to be considered is the sharing of knowledge and practices between the partners of the project. Portugal and Italy walked in tandem.

    And what about in Portugal?

    Phase 1 - letting the project be known at school(s) and by the school(s) community(s)

    The Portuguese school created and let a cloud of dreams literally travel from school to school, so as to take the project's idea from one teacher to another, from one student to another, from one school to another...

    Students of the eTwinning project "Dream on" also promoted other important initiatives for the dissemination of the foreign language department's curriculum.

    Presentation of the project, in the school auditorium, in the European Day of Languages

    Project dissemination at School Library

    Phase 2 - getting more and more students and teachers involved

    The school library took the "Dream on" project to launch an overall activity implying more students and teachers...

     If a class brings its dreams to school, why not inviting the others to do it too?

    Our dream is making it possible that all students, some day, have the opportunity of participating in an eTwinning project!

    After all, aren’t we an eTwinning School? Get to work!...

    Results in Portugal:

    1) The eTwinning "Dream-on" project worked on inclusion and contributed to implement curricular procedures to be used also with special needs students;

    2) Involvement of other teachers of different disciplines (other than those of the project)...

    To be continued...

    Sharing the experiment in Prague

    During the Contact Seminar organized by the Czech NSS eTwinning, 31th may - 3rd june, 2018, in Prague (Czech Republic) "United in cultural diversity", groups have been formed to plan new project.

    The team formed by one of the teachers of this project Antonietta Bianca Ferrara, by two Italian primary teachers Ilenia Brancato and Federica Tagliafico, and an Ukrainian teacher Natalia Gutaruk, worked on the problem posed by Antonietta: how can the eTwinning School label affect the school's project planning?

    During the conclusive session of the seminar, Ilenia, Federica and Natalia showed our video "Francesco non sognare" as a good practice of a synergy that has been created between an eTwinning project and the overall School's project design, and a proposal was laid down in order to continue this work with another project. But this is another history you will find more info by clicking here https://www.icvincenzorusso.gov.it/archives/4100.
