Romania

  • “Vasile Adamachi” Agriculture and Food Industry College Iasi is situated in the northern part of Iasi, city located in the NE region of Romania.  Our school has a very long tradition as an educational institution, tradition that goes back to the early 1920s.
We prepare young people in the spirit of democratic citizenship, entrepreneurship, we respect the equality of chances in their preparation in order to be citizens of a United Europe.
Our school select the exams and quizzes, get involved in the promotion of cultural and artistic values in national and European projects aimed at improving the quality of school education, intercultural education, entrepreneurial education, environmental education, education against violence and drugs, moral education, health education, etc.
The College has a varied educational offer which includes agricultural studies, environmental protection, food industry, economy, banqueting and mechanic. We consider that the best way to prepare young students for a job in one of the areas mentioned above is to give them the opportunity to put into practice the information taught during each profile’s special classes. For example, students who follow agricultural studies and environmental protection can practice their skills in the school’s didactic farm. Those following economic studies and food industry specialization can be trained at city’s different economic agents (banks, bakeries etc.). For the present school year, we have 606 attending students with the age between 14 to 19 years old. The majority come from families facing different issues: unemployment, emigration, children with parents gone to work abroad. Three quarters of these students come from disadvantaged rural areas and given their social and financial situation, they receive social grants. Our school has a various experience in European projects. From the most recent ones, we can mention the Comenius Project called “Green Building” that our school carried out with 4 other partners ( Italy as coordinator, Sweden, Turkey and Austria) between 2012-2014.  This project aimed at studying  different ways of planning, designing and constructing  in Europe. It started with a study of the geographical, environmental,  climatic, and historical factors which determine the choice of different architectural styles. The main goals of the “Green Building” project were to analyze the situation in the partner countries and areas in respect to the problems mentioned above and to compare the solutions already found in safe and sustainable buildings. Another European project worth mentioning about is the Euroscola competition to which 24 of our students and 2 teachers participated in 2011 at the European Parliament, in Strasbourg, France. The team of our school won the 2011 Euroscola Cup.  In 2009, we implemented another Comenius Multilateral Project- "Food and Health", together with other 3 schools from Italy, Portugal and Turkey which promoted a healthy lifestyle .
Entrepreneurial activity is supported through workshops, seminars and meetings with representatives of  non formal institutions and university students  (Faculty of Economics and Administration – University “A. I. Cuza” Iasi, Agronomic University “I. I. de la Brad” Iasi) which our school is in partnerships. We have cooperation agreements with these universities and students of these universities perform in our institution their pedagogical practice during the school year but also with specialized teachers.
