Presentation of "Cosmic Birds" by Alexandre Dauriac

  • Cosmic Birds

Cosmic Birds is a work of art which gathers several projects by Shun Ito, an old Japanese dancer who began visual arts in 2001 as an assistant. He created Cosmic Birds in 2012 and it was exhibited in Tokyo and now at "La cité des sciences" in Paris.

Consciousness of gravity which he gained through his dancing experience became the main theme of his creations. He also uses the effect of light thanks to transparent and translucent materials or reflects it in order to have a combination between this light and the movement produced by gravity. This combination creates complicated rhythms and produces a great variety of colors and shapes to finally have cinematic effects.

Cosmic Birds shows us also the new theme of Shun Ito : sound. He uses gravity to produce movements and these movements are going to make sound.

To him : "These rhythms resonate with rhythms of human physiology and perception" and his work of art helps him "to observe otherwise invisible rules of the nature and the universe". To conclude, he wants to create pieces that inspire a sense of peace and tranquility.
