Genesis of the project

  • It all stemmed from a common desire from Engineering, French, English and Art teachers to work together. Hervé, the Engineering teacher seemed to be keen on the part of the syllabus dedicated to robots and had Lego Mindstorm creations in mind. Myrletta, the English teacher, also from France, had a taste for anything that would not be too technical and allow students to develop all their English linguistic skills. Both of them, working with the "section Européenne" students thought it was only natural and logical to do so by finding European partners to collaborate with. They had already started to develop the possible range of activities of the project (from technology to general English involving the cinema, science fiction literature, Art, etc.) when they came across a monumental exhibition entitled "Robotic Art" that was taking place in Paris til January 2015. That's why they suggested to their Art and French colleague teachers to join them on the project Robot-X which they accepted ! That's how Isabelle (French), Virginie and Sébastien (Art) were added to the French team. And their contribution was priceless from the very beginning, especially as we started preparing the trip to Paris.

The next step was to find partners. Elena from Romania had already started to collaborate very efficiently with us (a year earlier) and accepted her students to exchange mails with ours  which they started to do in January 2015.

But other partners seemed happy to take part in an Erasmus+ project and joined us enthusiastically : they were Carmen, an English teacher from Italy (Sicily), Spyros, a computer science teacher from Greece and Inga, an ICT teacher from Latvia.

One week later (26th Jan. 2015, that is 2 days ago) , we had our first videoconference that Carmen, Spyros and I could attend. After the first ice-breaking minutes, we started to discuss the project and agreed on a common vision of the work shared by the other partners, which sets the bases of our work together : sharing the work and responsibilities, assisting and advising each other, defining common objectives and activities. As this is our first Erasmus+ project, advice and support from those experienced teachers is already invaluable and we are grateful for it !
