The main square is the meeting point of the social and cultural life of a town. It is a sample of its peoples and their cultural and social expressions. It is a space to share and live in tolerance and respect with our neighbours. For this reason, we have centred our project in the study of this public space which will help us understand and better learn about our European partners and, of course, about ourselves. This will provide both of us a global view of each other.
As we have aforesaid, in this project we have focused our study in the squares of our towns: Karlskrona and Sant Cugat, and from the square we have increased our knowledge studying our towns and countries.
We have followed the activities in our squares during the months we were working on this project, that is from December 2016 until April 2017.
Winter is a very cold season in many northen European towns, such as Karlskrona, so open-air activities are not so common. On the contrary, Sant Cugat is a Mediterranean town and good weather, even in winter time, is quite usual. For this reason there are more activities and a much extended use of the square.
We hope that this project may help all of us to be more respectful and tolerant and eventually better European citizens.
