International Year of light and lighting technology - International Year of the United Nations, held in 2015 in accordance with the decision of the UN General Assembly adopted in 2013. The initiative made by the UN for raising public awareness of the world of the importance of light in their lives, to improve public understanding of how optical technologies contribute to sustainable development and provide a solution to the problems in energy, education, agriculture, communications and health and strengthening international cooperation. Holding was confined to a number of anniversaries related to the science of light and observed in 2015.
