DISSEMINATION OF ERASMUS+ GEOPARKS

  • A STUDENT FROM THE EXPERIMENTAL HIGH SCHOOL OF MYTILENE TRAVELS TO THE International Geopark Camp

    This summer, Geopark Muskauer Faltenbogen organized the 3rd International Geopark Camp which took place in Weißwasser, Germany.  The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest was represented by a group of local students, 15 to 16 years old, interested in geology. The Experimental High School of Mytilene of the University of the Aegean sent one of its students in the Summer Camp who was accompanied with 6 students from other schools of Mytilene. The Camp took place from 4-11 of August and the main subject was “Energy meets Geology”. There were 7 countries participating and every day each student group had to present their country and Geopark. The goal was to make students exchange ideas and cultures by communicating with one another and making friendships. The Camp was completed with great success and all students had an unforgettable week.

    LAS LORAS GEOPARK PRESENTS ERASMUS+ GEOPARKS IN THE 8th INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF UNESCO GEOPARKS.

    This event took place in Madonna Di Campiglio en el Geoparque de Adamello Brenta. Las Loras Geopark presented our project. They also participated in several meeting, conferences, etc. At the end of the congress, Las Loras Geopark received an award for Good Practise. Every two years the Executive Commitee of UNESCO Global Network of Geoparks awards three geoparks out of 140 with this prize. So it is something to be proud of!

     

     

    PRESENTATION ON ERASMUS+GEOPARKS AT LYCÉE ALEXANDAR DAVIL-NEEL 

    Le 28 juin 2018, au Lycée Alexandra David-Neel, eu lieu la présentation des élèves participants au projet Erasmus+/Géoparc.
    Sur 3ans, de la seconde à leur terminal, 14 élèves sont partis dans les Géoparcs de Lesvos (Grèce), La Loras (Portugal) et Arouca (Espagne).
    En avril 2017, les élèves avaient à leur tour reçu les élèves étrangers sur le territoire de l’UNESCO Géoparc de Haute-Provence : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AU87KuhilgY
    Des expériences inoubliables à la découverte de cultures, de paysages et de savoir-faires authentiques.
    L’évènement était en présence de M. Lavis, inspecteur d’académie, M. Descharms, Proviseur du Lycée Alexandra David-Neel ainsi que Madame Feijoo, Professeur d’Espagnol au Lycée Alexandra David-Neel en charge du projet et Madame Soncini, Chargée de médiation pour l’UNESCO Géoparc de Haute-Provence.
    On June 28, 2018, at the Alexandra David-Neel High School took place the presentation of the students participating in the Erasmus +/Geopark project.Over 3 years, from the second to their terminal, 14 students left in the Geoparks of Lesvos island Unesco Global Geopark - Λέσβος Παγκόσμιο Γεωπάρκο Unesco (Greece), La Loras (Portugal) and Arouca Geopark (Spain).

    Unforgettable experiences discovering authentic cultures, landscapes and know-how.
    The event was attended by Mr. Lavis, inspector of the Academy, Mr. Descharms, Headteacher of Alexandra David-Neel High School as well as Mrs. Feijoo, Spanish Teacher at Alexandra David-Neel High School in charge of the project and Mrs. Soncini, in charge of the mediation for the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence.

     

     

    ERASMUS+ GEOPARKS PROJECT - AWARDED A PRIZE IN LISBON
    The Geoparks project was presented in Lisbon at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation on the 8th June 2018. 
    It was an initiative of the National Coordinator of the European Year of Cultural Heritage (AEPC) 2018, in partnership with the Center for Research on Interactive Technologies of the New University of Lisbon (CITI-UNL) and Jacques Delors European Information Center (CIEJD / DGAE_MNE) and sponsored by the Republic Presidency. It was attended by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the National Reading Plan and the Library Network.
    There was a contest for the European Cultural Heritage Award and the "Geoparks" project was awarded a prize. It was distinguished by the Portuguese social networks. 
    This contest aimed to promote the knowledge of the European cultural heritage in its multiple dimensions and mutations, promoting initiatives that guarantee its sustainability and protection, as well as communication among different cultural realities.

     

    FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GLOBAL GEOPARKS ON MAY 17th, 18th May 2018.

    Our project travelled to Athens. It was presented during the First International Conference on Global Geoparks on May 17th and 18th 2018. Our project was presented on the first day at 9.00-1100 by the national coordinator of the UNESCO Geopark Network of Greece. She used it as an example of good practices in the school framework. We were quite honnored.

     

     

     

    WEEK OF THE GEOPARKS

    In June 2017 ARGEOL, the organization in charge of Las Loras Geopark, organized a week to celebrate the week of the geoparks. In the programme there were many different events and among them they asked us to present our project to people in the territory of Las Loras. On the 8th June 2018 students and teachers took part in this presentation. 

     

    ENTREPRENEURSHIP SEMINAR ERASMUS+GEOPARKS

    On the 21st December 2016 IES Campos de Amaya organized an Entrepreneurship seminar in which entrepreneurs from all the region came to school to present their activities to the school community. They proved it is possible to start and success in your iniciatives by working from your village. Some of these iniciatives are carried out in Las Loras and can be an inspiration for young people in this area. The likely declaration of Las Loras as a geopark open a world of opportunities for new iniciatives in the area.

     

     

     

     

    TEACHERS' COURSE ON LAS LORAS GEOPARK PROJECT

    On the 13th October 2018 teachers from Campos de Amaya Secondary School attended a course on Las Loras to know more about it. Teachers from all the province of Burgos attended this course as well. The headmaster of Campos de Amaya Secondary School and the coordinator of the project Mónica Salas presented the project to all the participants in the course. On the 15th October 2018 all the participants went to Las Loras to know the territory on a day excursion.

    1) a two day conference organized by the Office of the Secondary Education of Lesvos (May 9-10, 2018)

    2) The seminar "Unesco Global Geoparks in Greece and Sustainable Development" organized by the Center of Enviromental Studies, Division of School Activities, the Museum of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos (December 13, 2017)

    3) The three day conference "Unesco Global Geoparks" organized by the Center of Enviromental Studies and the Museum of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos (May 4-6, 2018)
