The vegetation of Portugal is composed of a diversity of Atlantic, European, Mediterranean and African species. According to the Institute of Nature Conservation and Biodiversity (ICNB), more than 3,995 species of plants were found in Portugal, 3314 on the mainland, 1006 in the Archipelago of Azores and 1233 in Madeira.
