  • This is a very famous poem by Antonio Machado, one of our most important poets.

We learn it at school when we are younger because it is repetitive and easy to remember.

    Do you want to try?

    These are the words:

La plaza tiene una torre. There's a tower in the square.
La torre tiene un balcón,  There's a balcony in the tower.
el balcón tiene una dama,  There's a dame in the balcony.
la dama, una blanca flor. The dame has got a white flower.
Ha pasado un caballero, A knight came.
quién sabe por qué pasó, Who knows why he came.
y se ha llevado la plaza And he took the square,
con su torre y su balcón, the tower and its balcony,
con su balcón y su dama, the balcony and the dame,
su dama y su blanca flor. the dame and her white flower
