Basic concept of the project - exchanging ideas about the activities - forming the activities of the project

  • This school year the YTT travel… in time and space!!! Schools from several European countries are going to work together (by trying to involve everyone in the school community - students, teachers, parents, and community members) and share some concrete ideas on how space sciences can be used in classrooms, how it is linked to everyday life in multiple ways, how the theme of Space transcends scientific disciplines and goes beyond cultures and find out how they can use space and astronomy topics in their countries’ curricula under an interdisciplinary approach. The project we will be flexible and all the activities will be chosen after reflection, discussion and share of ideas among the participants of it (teachers and students). Students will be divided in transnational teams and working jointly to a varied of activities and when it is possible with the participation of the whole school community (students, teachers, parents) and the local one. Also there will be an assessment procedure after each activity and in the end of the project as well. The results of our activities will be displayed in Twinspace, in the school blogs and in the blog of the project. The main expected results are to:

    • increase students and teachers’ digital competence,
    • raise students knowledge about space and space careers,
    • engaged with activities in introducing space and astronomy topics in their countries’ curricula under an interdisciplinary and inquiry approach.

It is time for reflection each teacher should consider her countries’ curricula and find concrete ideas and the relevant material for activities relevant to the project. The activities must have to do with travel in time (past or future) and must be based on inquiry and on interdisciplinary approach and give chances for  involving everyone in the school community - students, teachers, parents, and community members. For each step of teams’ journey each teacher should add her ideas in the following prezi presentation. You may find some useful ideas in  http://www.space-awareness.org/en/activities/category/navigation/#filters or http://www.space-awareness.org/en/activities/

In our project is also participating grades of younger students (1st  4th Grade). Each teacher should add her ideas in the following prezi presentation too with mantioning in brackets "1st - 4th Grade".

Students’ opinion is also very important. So each teacher should discuss the topic of the project with her student and create a brainstorming in some web tool (like padlet, prezi etc) about the activities or the topics that which should be included in the project and post it below.
