Discover your inner talents!

  • Questions you might ask yourself:

    1. Did I choose the right school?
    2. What job/career will be perfect for my personal characteristics/inclinations/interests?
    3. How do I go about preparing for my future job/career?
    4. Should I concentrate only on one career option, or should I always have a plan B?
    5. Is the future career/job I envision financially viable/stable/fulfilling for me?
    6. etc. etc.

    STEP 1: THE MI TEST

As you see the choice isn't easy and you, as a student, haven't got all that much experience to be able to judge the best route to your future job. The theory of Multiple Intelligences states that everybody is intelligent in particular activities using parts of the brain dedicated to these: some of these parts are more or less developed in each individual, so each one is more suited to do a job with respect to another. Watch the video (there are subtitles if you click on the subtitles button at the left of the buttons at the bottom of the video), so you will understand what the MI test is all about:

Now let's start by taking a short, objective test called the MI test to see what inner talents you have (CLICK ON THE LINK):

Once you've finished, comment on your results in the dedicated Padlet (I've put an example comment so you will understand what is needed):

STEP 2: MI TEST -CAREER MATCHING

Once you've discovered your inner talents, let's see what jobs are dominant in which intelligence. Take a look at the chart below, and choose a job which is dominant in the MI which is dominant in you. Does it match the ideal job you had in mind?

    STEP 3: CAREERS ASSESSMENT TEST

What you found out so far, may not give you the whole picture about what you think are important characteristics for your ideal job. What career best fits your personality? This free career test can give you insight into your career personality. Based on a characterization of your personality in terms of Holland Code personality types, you will learn what kind of work environments and occupations suit you best. The results of this career test provide you with a list of professions and occupations that fit your career personality.

Choose a career that matches your preferences and you will increase your chances of being successful!

Click on the link to take the test: Career Assessment Test. When you're finished, write down the top three careers which suit your personality and compare these results to the job categories which matched the MI test results....are they similar or are they very different? Discuss the results in the dedicated Padlet below, using this guideline:

    1. MI-Career match result

    2. Career Assessment Test results (top 3 careers)

    3. Are the 2 results similar or completely different?

    4. Compare your results to one other student member (not of your class). If there isn't another member's results, then you can leave this step until another person posts results.
