Promising Prospects in Microgrid Development from Carnegie Wave Energy

  • This last few weeks the marine energy pioneer, Carnegie Wave Energy has developed the new microgrid systems.

The system is going to be located in Western Australia and it’s going to be called Islan Microgrid Project, and the debt for it’s finance this is about 3.69 millions of USD.

The Garden Island Micro grid Project is slated to be the world’s first to integrate both wave and solar PV power generation systems alongside battery storage into a micro grid system. In addition to producing power, the micro grid will support an existing desalination plant.

Construction of the microgrid on Garden Island is expected to start before the end of the year, and commissioning is planned for 2017.

    OPINION:

In my opinion, it is very good to research new types of energy or investigate how to improve the ones we have, specially if they are renewables. I’ve never heard of the marine energy, so this is new for me, now that I know a little bit more. I think it’s one of the best renewable sources of energy we could ask for, because it’s clean and its energy can be used for several things like to produce the light for a village, mechanical energy and for desalinating plants. But we need to use it more for having less pollution. Also I see that this kind of energy still it’s too expensive and we have to improve it a lot.

In conclusion, we have to investigate more the renewable sources and we will find better and also cheaper ones, then we could use it without any problem.
